Barcelona hosts St. Joseph's and Meadowside

Ten pupils from St. Joseph's and eight from Meadowside CP were hosted by Sant Ignasi-Sarria in Barcelona in May 2011. This marks the end of the project and it included the closing ceremony.

The video below gives a brief account of the wonderful week enjoyed by pupils and teachers from Ireland and England during their visit.

The pupils from St. Joseph's and Meadowside were made feel very welcome by the teachers and parents in Sant Ignasi. We were all struck by the warmth and kindness we encountered on our visit.

Some of the activities during the week included

  • Getting to know each other activities
  • Playing games
  • Visiting the homes of the families
  • Working in the classrooms
  • Touring Barcelona and its environs
  • Pupils and teachers prepared food for the visiting pupils and teachers
  • Sharing in writing up their reflections of the Comenius project.
  • Visiting a science museum
  • Entertained by the pupils in Sant Ignasi as they presented their reflections on the project and a comic drama 'George slays the Dragon'

Many thanks to all concerned for a wonderful and very eductional trip.
